I'm Octavia Lonergan, the author of the Cats' Eye View children's book series – gentle rhyming stories that help children explore important topics through the eyes of four curious cats: Ozzy, Tibby, Leo and Mimi.

I've loved writing poetry since childhood, and turning my poems into children's books has been a lifelong dream. During the spring 2020 lockdown, I found writing especially therapeutic, and one poem in particular stood out. It imagined a group of cats trying to understand why their owners had suddenly stopped going to work and why children were no longer going to school. That poem became my very first book, Cats' Eye View of Lockdown.

Since then, the series has continued to grow, inspired by everyday events and the conversations they spark. From caring for our environment to exploring the many ways we can show kindness, each book encourages children to look at the world with curiosity, empathy and compassion.

One of the things that makes the series unique is its combination of real-life photography with illustrated cat characters. I hope these stories not only entertain young readers but also encourage meaningful conversations at home and in the classroom.
